Human Rights in Iran – On Saturday the 4th of April 2020 Mahdi Rabiee, doing his time of 5-year-imprisonment under the accusation of financial crimes in type 5 of third prison ward on 2nd Saloon in Great Tehran Prison passed away due to the prohibition to have access to health- and medical care he desired.
According to Human Rights in Iran, on Saturday, April 4th, 2020 Mahdi Rabiee, born on 1977 and imprisoned in Type 5 of 3rd prison ward of 2nd Saloon of Great Tehran Prison, who was doing his 5-year-imprisonment time, after having lungs infection and lack of access to medical and healthcare, passed away. The deceased Mahdi Rabiee had had the symptoms of Corona Virus for a week before his death, but Prison authorities ignored his requests to be transferred to the prison clinic or a hospital. This is while according to articles 101, 102, 103 and 104 of Prisons Organization Regulation, they are in charge of each prisoner’s life and health and in case of death, they can be punished.
According to an informed source to Human Rights in Iran: “Mahdi Rabiee, 41, the residence of Tehran under the accusation of “Bounced Check” was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and was kept in Type 5 of 3rd prison ward of 2nd Saloon of Great Tehran Prison has passed away due to lung infection and with symptoms of Corona Virus while Prison’s authorities ignored his situation.”
This source added: “In the last 5 days before his death, he was suffering from dried coughs and continuously but was never transferred to a clinic and was transferred to the hospital in the last moments and just a few minutes after being transferred passed away.”
